FREQUENTLASKEQUESTIONS

What is play-based therapy?

In play based therapy, speech and language skills are targeted within the context of play.  This allows therapists to meet the child where they are at and provides opportunities for us to use the child's interests as a foundation for learning and growth.  Our play matches the child's developmental level and builds upon their abilities to promote learning new skills.  Progress is fostered in play therapy through the therapeutic techniques we utilize and not specific items or activities.  As therapists, this allows us to be flexible and follow the child's lead/interests in the moment because we are not adamant about a specific plan or therapy structure.

Do you accept insurance?

No, at this time Speech Play Love Therapy Services is private-pay only and does not accept or work with any insurance plans.  However, a superbill is available upon request and may help you secure reimbursement from your insurance provider for out-of-network costs (depending on your plan).  Provision of a superbill unfortunately does not guarantee reimbursement from your insurance provider.  Please reach out to request a "cheat sheet" to help navigate your conversation with your insurance company.

Is an evaluation required prior to services beginning?

An evaluation is required for all new clients unless an evaluation has been completed within the past 6 months in the areas of concern.  This can include an updated copy of your child's IEP or an evaluation from another practice.  The evaluation is a key part of the therapy process as this allows us to determine your child's strengths and areas where they need additional support, which will allow us to establish the goals that will be targeted throughout treatment.
